My mom says that my heart has been for Missions since I was 5. My first nudge to go to Africa was durning one of my 6th grade chapel's at school. A team of people that had just returned from Ethiopia came to share about their time while there. One of the team members was our computer teacher and a few other of the ladies go to our church. It was then that I felt the strong desire of my heart to go to Africa.
Mission, my first mission trip was in 2013. I was 12 years old, I went to Uganda, Africa. It changed everything, from the way I think about poverty to the way I thought about the people. My second trip to Uganda in 2015 changed the way I thought about mission. I realized that the true meaning of mission is to build relationship, and encourage them. We need to partner with them and help empower them to be the change. Partnership and relationships are what mission should be about. I have been to Uganda twice but I want to expand to not just there, but now to Haiti. I am super excited to make new friends and build more relationships. All I can ask for is prayer as me and my team go off to Haiti, money would be nice as well. But prayer is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Much love,
Emily M.
